Road Trip!

Today was not your normal Friday.  On a normal Friday, we’d be waking up early, getting ready, and driving to work.  Just like most of the rest of the world.  Today was different, we were going on a road trip today!

As most of you know, I am a diehard COUG fan.  Washington State University.

Game Faces!

My wife, Michelle, on the other hand, is as much a diehard Oregon State University fan

imageThis works out fine, 364 days a year.  That is until Saturday night at 730

This is our annual Cog/Beav game.  This year, for the first time in a while its being played at Martin Stadium in Pullman WA.  For those of you who have no idea where Pullman is, its 8 miles from Idaho, in the middle of 1000s of square miles of wheat fields.

Michelle has never been to Pullman before.  This isn’t surprising since you simply don’t get there by accident.  Its not on the way to or from anywhere.  Its a little town of 16000 people, tucked away 5 hours away from Seattle.

People who haven’t gone to WSU will never understand the magic, or the pure joy of being a COUG.  Michelle was a trooper, she never complained once during the hours of driving through wheat fields and tumble weeds.

We took a tour of the campus, checked out the dive bar on campus, the COUG, and i showed her all the important places from my past.  We also made it to Ferdinand’s to get Cougar Gold cheese, the best cheddar cheese, bar none!  if you ever get a chance, try it!

She does understand though, WSU is the smallest town in the Pac 12, Corvallis Or, Home of OSU is the second.  We love rooting for each others teams, have shirts for each others teams, and feel the pain and joy with each other for losses and wins.

We love each others campuses.  I love her for being as diehard a fan as I am.  It is seriously part of her charm!

For this game, we will continue our smack talking clear up and until kick off.  Problem is, since we’ve been together, my team has NOT fared well.  But this has never stopped me before!

So wish me luck!  We are relaxing in the hotel in Spokane after a very good meal at Azteca (but crappy service!) Tomorrow night, all bets are off!  Too bad she will be sad after the game, but it has to happen.  GO COUGS!
