I spend a lot of time on this blog talking about the weather. When you are a cyclist it has a big effect on the amount of fun you have when you saddle up! It can be too cold, to hot, to windy, too wet, too wet, cold AND windy. When you are a northwest cyclist you either deal with all of these, or hibernate for the winter (well most of fall, ALL of winter and part of spring) months…
Sunday, as you saw in the last post was just plain wet.
NOT a good day to be out, but I was. 2.5 hours of downpour… There are those (natives and transplants) who claim spring is as dark and dismal as winter. We let them whine and tell y’all this, because those of us in the know will tell you the sun is coming, and when it arrives… Continue reading “When it arrives….”
Yep, as I mentioned in the last post, I have joined the GoPro generation! Saturday would have been the prime day to test it out. It was 64, sunny, no wind, mountains were out and it was the perfect day to ride!
However, 3 things kept this from happening…. Continue reading “The Go pro test..”
There are things about me that surprise people I work with.
Since I am very loud and energetic, plus I being an excellent public speaker, in class and out, people find it very hard to believe I am an introvert (albeit a noisy one!)
I am also very good at trouble shooting tech issues in classes, meetings and for individuals. I am not afraid to click buttons, mess with wires or Pull a Panama (Google it) to make things work.
Because of this some think I probably like to get the latest techie stuff…. Continue reading “Sometimes it takes a while”
There is a saying amongst cyclist: The correct number of bikes one should own is N + 1. Meaning, take a look at how many bikes you have now (the ‘n’ in the equation) then go out and buy another one.
I know many people who have different bikes for different seasons, weather, purposes and whims. They can pick the one they want for any given ride. That aint me… Continue reading “One is plenty”
Murhpy’s Law came into play this week. As we all know, last weekend at this time I was sweating it out, not sure if the power would come on before the Walking Dead. (It did with minutes to spare!)
Tuesday – Friday though, it was warm, the sun was out and it was perfect cycling weather. I, of course, was 30o miles away from my bike in Spokane! The cycling gods did NOT smile on me! Damn that Murphy… Continue reading “The thoughts while riding.”
OK, I will admit, there was a time, not all that long ago, where one of my mantras was “Sleep is overrated!” Followed quickly by, “I will sleep when I am dead!”
Nowadays, I truly love my sleep. The alarm goes off and I growl. I would much rather roll back over, snug back up with Michelle and close my eyes again. Needless to say, I know get a LOT more sleep than I used to. That is, until these last couple days… Continue reading “Damn I am tired”
Over the years, Seattle has seen its share of windstorms. The Inaugural Day Storm of 1993, the Hanukkah Eve storm of 2006, and the November in August storm of 2015
With the potential damage our storms cause, the even slight possibility of course make the news. More often than not though, the “MAJOR Windstorm” coming “down our throats” just misses us.
Given that, the discerning weather geek becomes a bit more discerning about who he believes. Why do I mention this? Well, could be a storm is a comin tomorrow… Continue reading “Look out here it comes!”
