I am known for many things:
- Riding long distances on a bike
- Making people laugh
- McGyvering things to make it work (whatever IT is)
- Sipping wine
- And being able to drink a beer while standing on my head (I can still do it!)
I am not known for deep contemplative thoughts….
This morning I may have had one! I may have hurt myself a bit, as I had a headache for most of the day…. Continue reading “Just a thought….”
I know its been a while since my last post. As we know life gets busy!
But I wanted to sneak on for a quick shout out to a good friend and amazing artist: Renee Hazen!
Renee and I worked closely together for years at the mighty P. As I trained people in person, she used her creative talents to make sure to fully enjoy my classes. She developed all the online training which rescued them from me blathering on and on…
Last summer, Renee took a leap. She left corporate America, and went on her own to embrace her art, which aside from her hubby and son, is her one true love!
She has her site open! Renee Hazen Designs
In addition to her children’s books (I own them all!) which are amazing, she has developed a line of animal pillows. each one has an original piece of Renee art! There all also animal cards for that personal note to a love one!
Would you like a sneak peek? Sure you would!!
My cycling buddy Rob has a 22 year daughter that we love to death. I got her the giraffe pillow for Christmas and she loved it! Not only was the art amazing, but the pillow was soft and comfy! Rumor has it it made “Squeeeeeeee!”
So, for baby showers, Valentines day, or you just love owls, check out her page! And if that is not enough, just think: Anything you purchase helps supports a women with a genuinely amazing heart, continue her escape from cubicle hell!
I am damn proud of her!
Shop like the wind!!
10 years ago this month, I started on a new stage in life, I became a cyclist. For the 13 years prior, I did my damnedest to be a mountain climber, and summit Mt Rainier. Over the 13 times, I tried 4 times to reach the top. Hence the name Mountainstroh. Sadly, no matter how hard I trained, this body of mine shuts down at 12,000 feet. Since Rainier is 14,410, that left me a wee bit short.
I can hear some of you thinking (you are LOUD thinkers!) “You have told this story MANY times! Why do it again?”
Well this week, Michelle found a thumb drive I thought I had lost, and on it were all my photos from that climb! Some, honestly, I didn’t know I had. So, sit back, and let me regale you with a bit more detail, and a LOT more photos, about my last climb… Continue reading “The Last Climb of Mountainstroh”
I am not sure how it has happened, but for the last 4 years my annual miles keep increasing! A the end of 2014 I had 3483 miles. In 2015, I broke 4000 miles for the first time ever, hitting 4209 miles. 2016, I once again set a record, with a surprise 4470 miles. When I saw the final I ALMOST went out for another 30… But decided against it.
This year I blew the doors off the totals. 5077!! Again a new record, and first time over 5000. Y’all here, and my Facebook followers were tracking my quest for 5K these last two months. And I shouted from the rooftops when I made it.
Here we are now, the new year, and the questions have started… Continue reading “2018 Cycling Goal”
Well folks, here it is, 3 oclock in the afternoon on New Years day. We have taken down the Christmas trees, gone grocery shopping, hit the book the sale at 3rd Place Books and I snuck in a COLD 30 mile ride on the Burke Gilman trail. All in all an eventful day.
But as I sits and sips the Diet Man Dew, its time to look back over the year… Continue reading “Looking back at 2017”
