Yep, its been a bit since I posted. My Friend Val, of Wedgewood in Seattle History, reminded me recently that the month of June was over half gone and no one had heard from me!. So, on a rainy first evening of summer. I thought I would rectify this.
First off, as always, Michelle and I are happy, gainfully employed and healthy. As are the families. The mighty P announced this week that those in the Puget Sound area and Spokane would NOT be going back into he office in 2020. Proud of my company for making sure we are safe!
However, not all has been happy, hence the title.
First the sadness.
We lost a member of the family unexpectedly a couple of weeks ago.
The beloved, girl cat, C Catty Proulx, aka Pooh Bear aka Da Bear is no longer with us. She had not been eating and that is NOT like her. The doctor told it is was kitten cancer, and we made the hard decision to not let her suffer. She will be missed… Two weeks have passed and I still watch out so I don’t step on her early in the morning!
Yeah, 2020 sucks…. Continue reading “Sadness and Peilicanpalooza”
Wow… I totally fell off the regular blog post wagon!!!
I went back and took a look at the last post, and all the photos I have taken since then. Yep it has been awhile!
I think though you will see that with all the events that have been happening, that the delay is understandable.
So, lets make sure we cover the important parts first. Michelle and I are healthy and still working. Our jobs can be annoying, as all work can be, but we are thankful we are working when so many aren’t.
The scary part around here is we are opening up to the world next week. Hotels open and the folks from the big cities, with a much greater frequency of Covid, will be flooding the town. Add to it, some just aren’t intelligent enough to understand how masking up can help (even though it was proven in the Spanish flu 100 years ago.) We could be in for a rough summer. Michelle and I plan to hunker over the upcoming weekends.
But enough worry, lets cover the last few weeks….

So two years ago, when we first moved here, May hit and I swear it didn’t rain all month! We, here at the coast, were in a drought. Outdoor fires, even on the beach were soon banned and it was dry as a tater chip!
This year? Not so much! Its been raining off and on for the last couple of weeks. Today, I did a beach walk, 6.5 miles from the car at Gleneden Beach to Siletz Bay and back. It was dry when I got there, but it didn’t stay that way long!
But hey, I am a coast kid. If I gave up evey time a little rain fell, I’d never leave the house! Given what I ended up seeing, I am VERY glad I kept going… Continue reading “Who did I meet on my beach walk tonight?”
Last weekend I got a bit busy with stuff in general. You know how it is, Jig saw puzzles, walks, and bike maintenance. Somehow I flat missed the weekly update!
First off, the most important piece. Michelle and I are happy and healthy and still working! We are bummed we aren’t in Italy as planned, but otherwise life is good here on the coast!
I saw this recently on Facebook, and it fits me pretty well in these interesting times we are a living in.
Truth be told, aside from not being able to go to our favorite places for dinner after work, and the trip into Safeway done at an almost dead run, things aren’t much different for me.
its a good thing we are surviving well! We just found out this week that our town is closed until June 1. No hotels open, and asking nonresidents to stay away. Personally I think they are trying to avoid the crush of people who would be here on Memorial Day weekend if they opened sooner. People aint happy about it, and it is tough on the town, but I gotta say, I think its the right plan…
So what has the last couple of weeks consisted of… Continue reading “I think I missed a week!”
Hi yall! Here we are week 4 of shelter in place. First and most importantly, Michelle and I are happy and healthy. We are also still working full time. Hope this finds you all healthy as well!
One of the things I first learned about being a blogger is that it is not always easy to come up with ideas for a post. I learned early on we bloggers steal from others, and we are stolen from. I look at it as helping each other!
I tell you this because I stole this idea. I had Beth from Fit Ambitious Blonde read and comment on a post of mine. When that happens I always go out to their page to do the same.
She did a post listing how she is coping with the Covid shelter in place A – Z with something on every letter. I liked it!
Its a way to think of the positives during stressful times, so I decided to do the same!
Here is Tony’s Pandemic Survival List!

Happy Easter everyone! Hope you were able to have some fun!
First the important stuff. Michelle and I are both healthy, and still employed. It’s something we are very thankful for. We know not everyone can say this!
So, the third week of shelter in place is in the bag. Luckily for us, sheltering in place in Oregon means you can get outside to exercise. Looking over the last week, damned if I did NOT do just that! Continue reading “Week Three shelter in place and some serious miles!”
So the one thing I did not mention in the last post was that Michelle and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary on Thursday. 10 years and we still love and LIKE each other!
Who knew we’d be in the middle of a global pandemic and told to shelter in place!
Before I share what we did, I think I better explain why I am worried about our 20th…. Continue reading “Our 10th anniversary!”
Here we are at the end of the second week of the Oregon shelter in place rules.
Short update, Michelle and I are still doing well, and we are still working. We took today off from work as we both decided we needed a break, but otherwise, albeit slower, work continues.
A shout out to the Mighty P. They are giving every employee a small bonus next week to help out in these times. I did NOT see that coming and it one helluva nice thing to do. Like everyone, I have complained about work and corporate decisions over the years, but this reminds me why I work there! Well done!
It has been an eventful week… Continue reading “2nd Week of Shelter in Place”
Good morning all. I very much hope things are going as well as they can for anyone reading this.
Update from the coast. Michelle and I are still employed. We, and ours are still healthy and, things are going well.
I think she is healthy because she is smart and careful, and makes sure to keep us out of danger. For me it more like this
Like many of y’all, the Governor of our state has issued a shelter in place order Continue reading “Shelter in Place, Week one!”
Ok people, there aint no one who can say stuff is getting real. REI closed, baseball delayed, bars and resturaunts told to shut down, no wine tastings allowed, and lord knows finding a damn roll of toilet paper is like looking for the holy grail
This post is not to make light of what people are going through, pure and simple, it’s scary! Plus, most of the people Michelle and I have come to care for down here are in the service industry. It is going to be damn hard on them!
We are all going through stressful times though. We are being told to practice social distancing. Making sure there is a 6 foot buffer around us. Some people are taking this to mean “Stay home and hide!”
My gorgeous wife and I think differently…. Continue reading “Social distancing Oregon Coast Cyclist style”
