One of the first things we learned when we became coast kids was how much we had never experienced in our visits to the Oregon Coast.
Like most, we would come in the spring and summer, we’d be hoping for nice days, no rain and great sunsets. We would always have our gortex JUST in case, but we’d be happy if it was shorts and shirt sleeves during our stay.
We had no idea, ok I had no idea (Michelle grew up her so she knew), about storms, high surf warnings, sneaker waves or king tides! They have taught me that fall and winter are the BEST times to be here! This weekend, was one that will live in memory. Continue reading “When the stars align and the beach gods smile…”
This is something Michelle hears from me time and time again. We will be watching TV, or see someone when we are at dinner, or mention someone from work. And when I hear is is close to our age or younger, I do a double take… He’s our age???
Now for those who do not know, I hit the big double Nickel this year. Yep 55. I am a bit up there.
But, not to beep my own horn, the further I get, the more I am learning there is a HUGE difference between people the same age. Not all 55 year olds are build alike. Continue reading “He’s our age???”
Ok, before I jump into the new post I gotta tell you what JUST happened!
I am on the back porch, sipping wine and looking at the photos I took at the beach, when I hear a noise. I look up and there go two deer, a doe and a buck, bouncing (I am told it is called pronking) right through the back yard in front of me! I had no chance to get a camera. I just watched with my mouth open! I LOVE my back yard!
Ok on to the post! Continue reading “Yes sir! That is just the rock I needed!”
Anyone who knows me knows there are some things I just DON’T like. Hot weather, weddings and talking with people I don’t know rank right near the top. However, it was Abby’s wedding (our niece)
it was in Texas and it was in June. But she and Travis were tying the knot
And Michelle was in the wedding so off we went!

As we all know, the reason Michelle and I were able to move here to the coast is because the Mighty P let us telecommute from here. My normal work attire now is shorts, t-shirt and no shoes or sock.
However, the expectation when we moved here was that we would need to come back from time to time and work in the office. This week was a whirlwind trip for me. The drive up was uneventful, and the time in the office productive. My boss also convinced me to finally let him take me out for my 5th anniversary lunch. (My second 5th anniversary.)
We went to Red Robin! YUM!!!
But it was the drive home, that will be remembered. Continue reading “A drive to remember”
So 6 months, damn almost 7 now, we moved to the Oregon Coast. In that time I have come to think of myself and as beach walking, wine drinking, coast cycling neighborhood walking nature spotting whale watching member of the Beaver State. (hehhehheh he said Beaver!)
But I was still sporting the Washington State Driver’s license. With the midterm elections coming up next month, we needed to register to vote. Here in Oregon, that means you get an Oregon License.

Today was an exciting day. Michelle and I finally made time to get the DMV this morning. We walked out, eventually, with Oregon State Driver’s licenses! What does eventually mean? I didn’t know I needed to bring a birth certificate or passport with me!
In Washington, there is no proof of citizenship, but Oregon is different. A second after lunch trip meant I finally got mine!
It was a night to celebrate Continue reading “We will never know the answer….”
