As any regular reader knows, 4 months ago Michelle and I moved to the Oregon coast, Lincoln City to be exact.
What some may not know is that to do so, I changed jobs. I was a corporate trainer. I molded the youth of the Mighty P in my image. More specifically, I trained claims adjusters for the insurance company I work for. Walk through any office, and you will find the vast majority of the claims people who work there were trained by me at one time or another.
I was the claims cowboy and I was a DAMN good trainer!
But, to move here, it required moving back to being an adjuster. Which, in some eyes is a step backwards, and in other eyes a sign of insanity…. Continue reading “Any regrets?”
Y’all know I am not big on meeting people. I ride alone (for the most part) I hike alone, and I am pretty much an introvert. I like it that way.
The one exception seems to be Starbucks Baristas. For some reason, by the second week of being in Lincoln City, I was known by Melissa, Sharae, Serena, Nuemi and Jake. Shoot, by the time I get to the counter from the parking lot, as often as not, the green ice tea I am picking up for Michelle is sitting on the counter waiting for me. It is good to be a regular!
Well the other exception is Jesse and Luis… Continue reading “Jesse and Luis”
We are coming up on the one month anniversary of moving to the ocean! In some ways it seems like time has flown by, in others it seems like forever ago we left Mountlake Terrace. But, unlike coming to Lincoln City for a vacation, When you live here, there are chores to do.. Continue reading “A busy day!!”
It was a fun weekend! Y’all know that yesterday I rode 70 miles in the soaking rain, just because I could! But, in the same post I mentioned the reason we were in Corvallis was for the Corvallis 5K.
It was a very fun group of people who made the trek to Oregon State University just to travel 3.1 miles by foot… Continue reading “The Corvallis 5K”
Folks, one of the things I will have to get used to with this move is living in a small town. There are both pros and cons. For a con or two, the nearest bike store is 25 miles south. And, with only one Starbucks, the drive thru line, at noon is backed up to the road.
Pros are many. No traffic noise outside our window, friendly people everywhere we go to eat, we can hear the waves at night from the bedroom, and we have two, not just one, kind of hummingbirds.
Yep one is red
And yes, there is of course Larry the Cable guy… Continue reading “Larry the Cable Guy”
A week ago, Michelle and I woke up for the first time as owners of a house in Lincoln city, Oregon. We had three amazing friends here ready to help, boxes everywhere, and a ton of stuff to do! A week later, things have changed a bit! Continue reading “What I’ve learned in the first week…”
Sometimes, not often, but sometimes, the gods smile on us. Not just the weather gods, or just the cycling gods. not even just the mountain gods. I mean ALL the gods, little to small, smile down on you. We have just experienced this, and are very happy.
We let the most important people know already, my mom, the Mathmajor and the Manchild, and our closest friends in real life and the blog world. Now its time to let the rest of the world know. there has been a big change in Mountainstrohville… Continue reading “The Ocean She Calls!”
