Yep, its been a bit since I posted. My Friend Val, of Wedgewood in Seattle History, reminded me recently that the month of June was over half gone and no one had heard from me!. So, on a rainy first evening of summer. I thought I would rectify this.
First off, as always, Michelle and I are happy, gainfully employed and healthy. As are the families. The mighty P announced this week that those in the Puget Sound area and Spokane would NOT be going back into he office in 2020. Proud of my company for making sure we are safe!
However, not all has been happy, hence the title.
First the sadness.
We lost a member of the family unexpectedly a couple of weeks ago.
The beloved, girl cat, C Catty Proulx, aka Pooh Bear aka Da Bear is no longer with us. She had not been eating and that is NOT like her. The doctor told it is was kitten cancer, and we made the hard decision to not let her suffer. She will be missed… Two weeks have passed and I still watch out so I don’t step on her early in the morning!
Yeah, 2020 sucks…. Continue reading “Sadness and Peilicanpalooza”
So two years ago, when we first moved here, May hit and I swear it didn’t rain all month! We, here at the coast, were in a drought. Outdoor fires, even on the beach were soon banned and it was dry as a tater chip!
This year? Not so much! Its been raining off and on for the last couple of weeks. Today, I did a beach walk, 6.5 miles from the car at Gleneden Beach to Siletz Bay and back. It was dry when I got there, but it didn’t stay that way long!
But hey, I am a coast kid. If I gave up evey time a little rain fell, I’d never leave the house! Given what I ended up seeing, I am VERY glad I kept going… Continue reading “Who did I meet on my beach walk tonight?”
Looking at the calendar, one will see winter is here! The week before Christmas, between Thursday morning and Saturday afternoon, our back yard rain gage recored over 6 inches of rain! That was combined with some heavy winds for 18 hours straight!
But I am OK with that! I love stormy weather at the coast, its half the fun of living here. AND it made our Lincoln City Office Christmas party at Tidal Raves even that much better!
However, the one bummer is that the sun goes down WAY too early! Continue reading “Fashionable it aint…”
I was a GREAT Oregon Coast weekend.
I know, I know! When have I ever said it was a bad weekend on the Oregon Coast? For that matter, when have I ever said it was a bad Oregon Coast day?
But this one was great for things to see, weather, and just plain fun!
I shoulda known something good was coming. Thursday I got drenched on a 26 mile after work ride (though I did see whales as I ate my trail mix cookie in the deluge.)
As I got close to home, though, and crossed the bridge into town, I looked up Schooner Creek and saw this.
I am starting a new wivestail! Rainbow on Thursday means great weekend coming…. Continue reading “Boy you must have pedaled like the dickens!”
I keep waiting for it to happen. Sooner or later, someone who follows this blog is going to say. “Dammit! Enough is enough! I am tired of ‘I love living on the Oregon Coast posts!!!’ ” Well, reader beware, here comes another one…. Continue reading “Yes, yes indeed I belong here”
Ok, before I jump into the new post I gotta tell you what JUST happened!
I am on the back porch, sipping wine and looking at the photos I took at the beach, when I hear a noise. I look up and there go two deer, a doe and a buck, bouncing (I am told it is called pronking) right through the back yard in front of me! I had no chance to get a camera. I just watched with my mouth open! I LOVE my back yard!
Ok on to the post! Continue reading “Yes sir! That is just the rock I needed!”
We looked at the calendar yesterday, and sure as hell, it has been 6 months since we moved here!! March 23rd, on a rainy cold day in Mountlake Terrace, we loaded the U-Haul and headed south. There are those who believed we would run out of things to do and be bored…
Not hardly! Continue reading “After 6 months there is still new to see…”
Yesterday morning I was taking a quick ride to Newport. Michelle was getting her hair done, and I was riding south to meet her. We were going to drive back together and stop at the grocery store. It was a gorgeous day to ride! Blue sky, no wind and the whales were out
I was cruising along when realized that Saturday was the first day of September! And as the title says, I had ridden less than 200 miles during the month of August…. Continue reading “Under 200 miles???”
