A drive to remember

As we all know, the reason Michelle and I were able to move here to the coast is because the Mighty P let us telecommute from here. My normal work attire now is shorts, t-shirt and no shoes or sock.

However, the expectation when we moved here was that we would need to come back from time to time and work in the office. This week was a whirlwind trip for me. The drive up was uneventful, and the time in the office productive. My boss also convinced me to finally let him take me out for my 5th anniversary lunch. (My second 5th anniversary.)

We went to Red Robin! YUM!!!

But it was the drive home, that will be remembered. Continue reading “A drive to remember”

It always got me home

Well folks, there are times when people say “it’s the end of an era”. It’s usually when some long-term sports dude retires, or a long running TV show goes off the air.  Or even a favorite restaurant closes down.

Now I have no idea how long an era is, officially that is, but boys and girls, this week marks the end of an era for me.  Almost 19 years ago, a younger Mountainstroh bought a brand new, 1997  Ford Escort Station wagon. This week, 313, 000 miles later (no exaggeration) it had its last ride. Continue reading “It always got me home”

Badly needed maintenance

I know I have mentioned my car is previous posts here.  It’s a 1997 Ford Escort Station Wagon.

I bought it brand new and it now has 304.000 (no typo) miles on it.  This thing has taken me to the mountains, the ocean and everywhere in between.  Only 3 windows work, the rear defroster is shot, and I need a flashlight to see how fast I am going at night.

It’ll wash right off!

If anyone would’ve asked me prior to today, I would have answered without a doubt that I had done a post about this story. However, two things this week made me check.  The first was one of my students asking why teenage and twenty-something males seem to lack common sense, and the second was one of my old friends mentioned shoe polish in a Facebook comment.

These two items (common sense and polish) played a HUGE part in a road-trip back to Pullman for a Cougar Football Game…. Continue reading “It’ll wash right off!”

What a CRAPPY morning!

Today was not normal.  You see. usually I annoy people because I am a morning person.  Though I love sleeping in and snuggling up to Michelle, once out of bed I usually hit the floor running.  I whistle in the hallways, and drive the caffeine deprived nuts until they get their coffee.  Yes normally mornings are my happy place!  But not today… Continue reading “What a CRAPPY morning!”

It really is a matter of convenience…

You know what’s fun about reading other cycling blogs?  You sometimes read a post that results in you “borrowing” the theme for your own blog.  (OK, maybe we could call it stealing the idea)  This happened just yesterday when I read a post by my british blogger friend Jude (Cycling with Heels) Continue reading “It really is a matter of convenience…”

Go, No Go!

Anyone who read the posts on here from the last weekend knows that I spent a lot of time in Eastern Washington over the weekend. Michelle and I went back to Pullman, WA, to watch out two teams (Oregon State and Washington State) play football.

I am done rehashing the pain of the game (scarred for life I am telling you) tonight I decided to discuss something I noticed during the trip. Namely passing on a 2 lane highway! Continue reading “Go, No Go!”
