So here we are, the start of our second Memorial Day as residents of the Oregon Coast.
So far this evening has NOT been the most relaxing. I left the office at 3 for a quick errand to take our bottles and glass to the local transfer station to be recycled (for some reason we can’t put glass in our curb side bins)
Then , after work, I went down to buy farm fresh eggs. Where, as I walked back to the car, I noticed the back tire was almost flat. (it had just enough to get me home). Having had allowed our AAA to lapse, I rolled up the sleeves and changed it myself!
Then I had just enough time to get to Les Schwab to get it repaired for free!
I renewed my AAA as well….

One week ago, from the time I am starting this post, Rob and I were almost 3 hours south of Centralia, and starting to cuss the rolling hills. As hard as a 200 miles ride is, the prep is just as tough. There are hours upon hours of training rides and being away from home. That means one weekend day is taken up with a ride and the other ends up being errand day. It aint easy on a cycling spouse to have someone gone that much.
Given that, the big training rides are over! Therefore we decided today would be a fun day to do something together we had never done.

You know sometimes life gets busy. Work keeps you hopping, things go on outside work, and suddenly weeks will pass. Sometimes you don’t even realize it.
Then, you start wondering (ok at least I do) how’s come I haven’t had a ping from a person visiting the blog? Only to find its been 3 weeks since the last post….

Somewhere close to 23 years ago I became a dad for the first time. As with all dads, I lamented that there was not an instruction manual, took 5 minute power naps in the car before driving home from work, and discovered that not covering the nether regions of a boy while changing a diaper could result in both of us needing a shower!
Unlike other dads (I am assuming here) I found the infant stage boring (they are essentially paperweights and don’t do much) and I though Father’s Day was silly. Most years, this one included, people had to remind me it was coming…. Continue reading “A very cool Father’s day!”
