Yeah yeah yeah, I know. Every stinking TV show, radio program, podcast and blogger does a “looking back post.” So here I am doing the same. But ya know, honestly 2018 has been a year of change, AND the blogger mafia threatened to take away my website if I didn’t do it, so, here we go, 2018…

Wait?? There’s a Dress code???
In the Last couple of years, our niece Abby has twice braved the weather and TSA to come up from Texas to visit.
Well it seemed only fair that Michelle and I return the favor. It had been in the plans once, but things fell through for some reason. This seemed like a perfect time, though, given a recent event in her life
Fun time without the bike!
What’s that? Tony has a blog post that doesn’t have a bike?? What is this world coming to?!? But yes it is true, it has been a week, but during this week there has only been 2 days on the bike.
Don’t you worry though, I sure as hell got my exercise! Continue reading “Fun time without the bike!”
A look back to 2016
For years, every month I did a Racking Up the miles post. I would log the miles and give a short review of the month. Somewhere along the line this year, I stopped. I have a rule. If I stop doing something, and don’t miss it, then I don’t start it up again. (Like the ONE year I ran a half marathon!)
So I thought about skipping the almost mandatory “Looking back” post, but as the day went on, I kept looking up info I usually include, so it must be something I want to do! Continue reading “A look back to 2016”
2016, 12 months worth of photos
In my off cycling life, I am a corporate trainer. I am the Claims Cowboy, training the new claims department hires at the Mighty P, a Pacific Northwest Insurance company. I like to say I am molding The Mighty P’s youth in MY image, but that scares people!)
When I was a young trainer, I had someone tell me some valuable advice: When it comes to teaching, steal unmercifully. Meaning, if you are in a class and see a technique or a game or activity that works well, steal it, use it and make it yours!
I have found this applies to blogging as well! If I see something someone does, and I like it, I pounce! This is one of them. Continue reading “2016, 12 months worth of photos”
Its been a long haul
So what happens when it is halfway through the month of December and our hero Mountainstroh has a total of 10 (nope not a typo, ten) bike miles so far? Well for one, he starts wondering just how many layers he will need to ride in 30 degree weather, and for two, the blog needs other inspiration to keep it from dying an early death. Tonight I stumbled on a bit of a spark. Continue reading “Its been a long haul”
The Manchild
On Facebook Saturday I posted this:
As a young dad, it is a win every day the next morning shines and the baby boy is smiling and you haven’t broken him. Those small victories continue to build until suddenly the Manchild is no longer a child, he is a man walking across the stage for his high school graduation.Eric Valente did that walk today and did himself proud. Sadly he has to go home and study for his finals at Highline community college tonight, but that makes us even more proud of him! Good job dude, Michelle and I love you!
Yep Saturday night, our youngest graduated… Continue reading “The Manchild”
A day of loss
There were a lot of things I thought I might be writing about this week as I am stuck in Spokane to teach, but there is NO way I thought it would be this. Tonight I am turning over the virtual glass
Yes, I lost a friend today.. Continue reading “A day of loss”
Best Books for Kids EVER, written by Renee Hazen
Folks there are two things about me when it comes to Christmas shopping. One, I hate shopping in stores, so I use the online option. Amazon has become my friend! Second, being the reader that I am, I like to share books whenever possible, especially with kids.
I am VERY lucky that a great friend of mine, Renee, has written some of the best kidlet books I’ve ever seen. I wanted to share these with you today as we all start shopping!

The 6 grandson Thanksgiving
Well Thanksgiving has come and gone, Black Friday as well. It seems strange to say, but in all honesty it is true, my time at work today was the least busy and active that I was for the last 48 hours…. Continue reading “The 6 grandson Thanksgiving”
