Take Off to the Great White North!

When I was in college, there were two singers, Bob and Doug McKenzie, who had a comedy album all about Canada.  The most memorable song was of course the Canadian 12 days of Christmas.  “On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, a BEER!”

Other items were 2 lbs of back bacon and 5 Golllllden Tukes!

That was my view of Canada for years! Luckily, since I have been with Michelle, I have been to both Vancouver and Victoria BC, and have been introduced to the real Canada! (Though they do like beer and Tukes!)

This weekend, we made another run to Vancouver, but for a reason that might surprise some.. Continue reading “Take Off to the Great White North!”

Labor Day Weekend…

As we all know, completely contrary to what the calendar and the weather gods think, Summer officially ends with Labor Day Weekend.  Soon the leaves will change, the sun will go down earlier, and the Starbucks lines will be longer due to ladies in yoga pants ordering Pumpkin Spice Lattes!  (Luckily I order ahead and avoid all lines!)

Before all this, we are given one last chance for a three-day weekend! Continue reading “Labor Day Weekend…”

Snuck off for a weekend

Those who read yesterday’s post may have noted I was writing it while sitting on a deck of a hotel room In Port Townsend, WA.  This is a little town, right on the Puget Sound here in Washington state.

Those who really know me, might think it was strange I was there on the weekend of the Chilly Hilly, which in the Seattle area is the considered opening day of cycling season.  But, it has been a long hard month at work, Michelle and I needed time away, and I SUCK at checking calendars.. The 57 mile breakfast!

So, Saturday morning was Valentines day.  Michelle whipped up some DAMN good scrambled eggs with pesto and cheese.  She gave me so much, I could barely fit it in tortilla wrap!  Trouble is an hour later, I looked at her and said “You are NOT going to believe this, but I am hungry again!”

It has been a long week

Folks I am sitting here today, without wine (I had a bit too much last night, so I don’t need any tonight) and I am just flat beat.  It has, without a doubt, been one helluva long week!  Three hour meetings each day (which drives me nuts).  Working with a new program we are implementing in my department (It doesn’t like me, and I feel the same about it.  What it doesn’t know is I have a big stick and WILL use it if it keeps screwing up.) I got rained on something fierce on the ride home Wednesday night.  Oh and the Seahawks lost the Super Bowl last Sunday.

Yeah its been a tough week, but then again, there was some good as well! Continue reading “It has been a long week”

There is Evil afoot!

It happens every year, about this same time. The evilness invades the office….

It starts sneaking up around Halloween, when there are bowls full of candy all over just prior to the big night, and then overflowing the day after.  All that candy that wasn’t handed out has to go somewhere, and it ends up at work.

But then, sometime after Thanksgiving and before the Holly Jolly Holiday, the ultimate example of the darkside appears, sometimes, like today, out of the blue.  Yes, you all know of what I speak, the Office Holiday Pot Luck!!  <shiver> Continue reading “There is Evil afoot!”

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving

OK I know its true.  I’ve seen the calendar, I’ve heard people talking about black Friday the day after tomorrow and my email is sure as hell Blowed Up something fierce with adds.  Yes I know for a fact that tomorrow (the day this posts) is Thanksgiving, but it just doesn’t feel like it should be…. Promises are important!

Well, sadly, my week back at home and not training has come to an end.  By the time this publishes (assuming the creek don’t rise or fog doesn’t delay me) I will hopefully be getting ready to board my plane for Spokane.

However, Michelle and I DID squeeze in a lot for this weekend! Continue reading “Promises are important!”
