Anyone who has followed the blog for longer than a couple of years knows that Michelle and I loved coming to the Oregon Coast for vacations. We loved spotting whales, going on beach walks, going to lighthouses just walking on the beach.
Oh and sunsets and good food, and waves, and the people, and the food and and and….
Having become a coast kid a year ago, I’ve come the realize something:
There is a HUGE difference between visiting somewhere on vacation, and living there full-time. Now, just to make sure no one worries about this statement. I LOVE LIVING HERE!! I think I was always meant to live at the ocean.
But, had you asked me 2 years ago what I knew about Lincoln City and the beach here, I would have been pretty confident with the answers I gave.
Is anyone else surprised that this is the last day of January?? Seems like the year just started. yet here we are with Groundhog Day just around the corner.
I will take a minute to brag. With a combination of indoor miles on the trainer and outdoor rides on the weekend, I have cranked out 376 miles this month! Plus who knows how many miles walked on the beach and walked (even ran!) on the treadmill. I am kicking the winter food binge smoothness and getting back to what I want to be, one bad assed cyclist! More on that to come.
But I digress, this is about this week, and damn I liked it, especially the last 3 days. Continue reading →
Ladies and gents I am getting spoiled! The weather has been nothing but amazing this entire month. (Funny, the one real rain we had, Michelle and I were in Portland at the zoo!) Aside from those days, October has looked like this
We looked at the calendar yesterday, and sure as hell, it has been 6 months since we moved here!! March 23rd, on a rainy cold day in Mountlake Terrace, we loaded the U-Haul and headed south. There are those who believed we would run out of things to do and be bored…
I am sure there are some who can come to the ocean and treat it just like they were at home. They sit inside, they watch TV, they play video games and never really look around to see all there is to see. Luckily we are NOT like that. One of the reason’s we go to the ocean, aside from just wanting to listen to the waves, is see all the beauty, natural and otherwise, you only get here.
Last year, on the 4th of July, Michelle and I decided to do something silly and touristy. We went into Seattle and rode the Duck. We had a blast! So this year, since it was a three-day weekend, we were pondering what we should do! She suggested “Let’s get up early and go to Mt Rainier!!” “Oh hell yeah!” (all the pics that follow were taken by Michelle and I, some of them turned out well enough that they could have been snagged from google, but nope all ours!)
