One week ago, from the time I am starting this post, Rob and I were almost 3 hours south of Centralia, and starting to cuss the rolling hills. As hard as a 200 miles ride is, the prep is just as tough. There are hours upon hours of training rides and being away from home. That means one weekend day is taken up with a ride and the other ends up being errand day. It aint easy on a cycling spouse to have someone gone that much.
Given that, the big training rides are over! Therefore we decided today would be a fun day to do something together we had never done.

Here it is, almost the end of June, and we are approaching the 3rd month here on the coast. And after three months, we are VERY much still enjoying life here. The pace is slower, working from home there is no commute and I am still discovering new things on a regular basis.
I love walking the beach, riding the coast, and just experiencing the feel of world around us. This last week, though, nature put on a serious show just for my benefit…
Just a warning for the squeamish, there are some ‘circle of life’ photos attached…

Y’all know I am not big on meeting people. I ride alone (for the most part) I hike alone, and I am pretty much an introvert. I like it that way.
The one exception seems to be Starbucks Baristas. For some reason, by the second week of being in Lincoln City, I was known by Melissa, Sharae, Serena, Nuemi and Jake. Shoot, by the time I get to the counter from the parking lot, as often as not, the green ice tea I am picking up for Michelle is sitting on the counter waiting for me. It is good to be a regular!
Well the other exception is Jesse and Luis… Continue reading “Jesse and Luis”
Its funny. For a while there, I was going through a serious Blog drought. I kinda felt like I had told all my stories, not much was happening that I hadn’t already discussed cycling wise. At times I considered taking a hiatus.
Fast forward a few months. Being in a new town, and on the coast and discovering places I’ve never seen…. Even short rides warrant a post! I know as I am here longer, this will change. But right now its fun! And tonight was a blog worthy short ride…. Continue reading “Elk Butts!”
It was a fun weekend! Y’all know that yesterday I rode 70 miles in the soaking rain, just because I could! But, in the same post I mentioned the reason we were in Corvallis was for the Corvallis 5K.
It was a very fun group of people who made the trek to Oregon State University just to travel 3.1 miles by foot… Continue reading “The Corvallis 5K”
A week ago, Michelle and I woke up for the first time as owners of a house in Lincoln city, Oregon. We had three amazing friends here ready to help, boxes everywhere, and a ton of stuff to do! A week later, things have changed a bit! Continue reading “What I’ve learned in the first week…”
Sometimes, not often, but sometimes, the gods smile on us. Not just the weather gods, or just the cycling gods. not even just the mountain gods. I mean ALL the gods, little to small, smile down on you. We have just experienced this, and are very happy.
We let the most important people know already, my mom, the Mathmajor and the Manchild, and our closest friends in real life and the blog world. Now its time to let the rest of the world know. there has been a big change in Mountainstrohville… Continue reading “The Ocean She Calls!”
