The night sky puts on a show

A year ago, Michelle and I were getting excited. The finishing touches were being put on the house, the Mighty P had given its final blessings and Mark, Kim and Rob were on board to come up and help move us south.

We were looking forward to so many things. Watching whales and seeing eagles, beach walks and crashing waves. Sunsets and wind storms. Tide pools and light houses. Good wine and good food, and just flat being together at the coast.

A great beach weekend

With the new year, like many people, I have been trying, with a lot of help from Michelle, to get the body back in shape after too much good food, too much wine and not near enough miles on the bike in November and December. I am doing both rides on the trainer in the garage, as well was using the treadmill. I am also doing my best to get out each weekend for at least one outside ride.

I have to time it right with the weather, but so far I have been 3 for 3. I wasn’t sure if this weekend was going to happen though.  Continue reading “A great beach weekend”

Grocery Shopping on the Oregon Coast

Well y’all, no matter where you live there are things that need to be done. Even on the Oregon Coast I have to clean the cat’s litter box, on Wednesday nights I have to take the garbage to the curb, and once a week, to keep Norbert happy

I have to make fresh hummingbird food.

And, to eat regularly, we have to go grocery shopping….

Islands of life

So there I was, walking the beach in the fog and drizzle.

Michelle and I had recently gotten home from a long weekend in Portland, and I just felt the need to walk the beach. After the sirens, yelling, horns, smells, protest chants and not so great smells, I needed a beach walk.

The fog was in, it was drizzling, but not all that windy. So all in all It was a good night to walk.
