As any regular reader knows, 4 months ago Michelle and I moved to the Oregon coast, Lincoln City to be exact.
What some may not know is that to do so, I changed jobs. I was a corporate trainer. I molded the youth of the Mighty P in my image. More specifically, I trained claims adjusters for the insurance company I work for. Walk through any office, and you will find the vast majority of the claims people who work there were trained by me at one time or another.
I was the claims cowboy and I was a DAMN good trainer!
But, to move here, it required moving back to being an adjuster. Which, in some eyes is a step backwards, and in other eyes a sign of insanity…. Continue reading “Any regrets?”
Here it is, almost the end of June, and we are approaching the 3rd month here on the coast. And after three months, we are VERY much still enjoying life here. The pace is slower, working from home there is no commute and I am still discovering new things on a regular basis.
I love walking the beach, riding the coast, and just experiencing the feel of world around us. This last week, though, nature put on a serious show just for my benefit…
Just a warning for the squeamish, there are some ‘circle of life’ photos attached…

I was reminded this weekend, that there are many many different reasons that people ride a bike. Now, I will admit I am very biased, in that I can think of no BAD reason for riding. I tell anyone who will listen that all miles are good miles. Being on a bike makes you healthier, and I honestly think happier.
But I will further admit I like my reasons for riding better than some others’…

Folks, as we all know this is the week after Memorial Day, which means it is a short work week. As most of us also know, short work weeks can be tough, since you essentially have to do 5 days work in 4.
Add to it, that for some reason this week, NOTHING has been easy! In short this work week sucked. Then today started out with an unexpected unpleasant surprise… Continue reading “DAMN I needed that!!!”
Y’all know I am not big on meeting people. I ride alone (for the most part) I hike alone, and I am pretty much an introvert. I like it that way.
The one exception seems to be Starbucks Baristas. For some reason, by the second week of being in Lincoln City, I was known by Melissa, Sharae, Serena, Nuemi and Jake. Shoot, by the time I get to the counter from the parking lot, as often as not, the green ice tea I am picking up for Michelle is sitting on the counter waiting for me. It is good to be a regular!
Well the other exception is Jesse and Luis… Continue reading “Jesse and Luis”
It’s Memorial Day weekend! For most people, in the USA, even though the calendar says differently, this 3-day weekend is the true start of summer.
Here in the Pacific Northwest, historically, this weekend doesn’t always ooze summer. Quite often, it can be a VERY wet weekend indeed. Especially at the ocean.
Therefore, when I woke up today, fully intending to crank out some miles on the bike, I was VERY pleasantly surprised to see blue sky and sun! With this kind of weather, how could it NOT be a great ride… Continue reading “The Sun came out!”
I got lucky this weekend! As we know, Friday I spent driving to Portland and sitting in a an Apple store. In the end, the computer is alive and kicking! Plus we didn’t lose anything!
Then Friday, Rob and I successfully pedaled 106 miles from Portland to Pacific City
Initially, I was supposed to work Monday, jumping right back into the grind, but the corporate gods smiled on me, and I was able to sneak in one more day off…. Continue reading “Two very different walks!”
