So there were plans today to rent a giant weed eater and clear back some of the vacant lot next us. There are weeds, scotchbroom and blackberry bushes slowly encroaching on our yard. I say rent the weedeater. because we have no grass! A yard of bark and plants only! (Can I just say I love not mowing)
We received an email though, from the head cowboy of the HOA, saying a tree/landscaper is supposed to be out today to give a bid to clean up the lot to the owner. Since its 1) his responsibility, and 2) seemed like it was going to be hard work, I was happy to hang up the idea.
This found me sitting not he back deck in the morning, ready a book and sipping coffee.
This is something Michelle hears from me time and time again. We will be watching TV, or see someone when we are at dinner, or mention someone from work. And when I hear is is close to our age or younger, I do a double take… He’s our age???
Now for those who do not know, I hit the big double Nickel this year. Yep 55. I am a bit up there.
But, not to beep my own horn, the further I get, the more I am learning there is a HUGE difference between people the same age. Not all 55 year olds are build alike. Continue reading “He’s our age???”→
Ever heard the old saying, “There is no such thing as a free lunch?”
People usually say it when someone talks about getting something for free. As in, “You know junior, there is no such thing as a free lunch! Someone, somewhere is paying for that! you just don’t know it!!”
Well ladies and gents, I had an amazing last few days, and sure as hell, all the fun stuff was free! It started me thinking, a lot of the coolest things to do at the ocean really are free! … Continue reading “Free fun!!”→
A year ago, Michelle and I were getting excited. The finishing touches were being put on the house, the Mighty P had given its final blessings and Mark, Kim and Rob were on board to come up and help move us south.
We were looking forward to so many things. Watching whales and seeing eagles, beach walks and crashing waves. Sunsets and wind storms. Tide pools and light houses. Good wine and good food, and just flat being together at the coast.
So, in a week or so, Michelle and I will hit the 9 month mark of the day we moved to the coast. There were those who believed, and hell maybe still believe, that we’d get tired of living here.
In all honestly, just like anywhere, there are work days that suck ass, and days where nothing all that memorable happens. There is magic at the coast, but that magic does not happen every day.
But then there are days like today. Where from before sun up, to after sun down, the coast puts on a show! When that happens we love it! And since it happened today, I wanted to share with you… Continue reading “Dawn to dusk”→
OK, pure and simple it is HOT! Today, once again, we hit the 90s, and in Washington, most of us do not have A/C. But then, most summers we get one or two days in the 90s, and that is usually July or August. It does NOT do this June and sure as hell not for a week or two in a row!
Today, I left work at 1 and braved the heat for a 35 mile ride. I emptied three bottles of water/powerade along the way! It was a hard 35!
