There are certain days of the year people look forward to every single year. Christmas, birthdays, 4th of July, and REI dividend day are just a few of the these. There is also the last Sunday in February!
After all the issues with TSA and traffic and white knuckled driving, plus the battle for what little space is available to us on the plane, Michelle and I landed in Seattle about 30 minutes earlier than expected! HELL YEAH!! Musta been a pretty darn good tailwind!
We made a point to take advantage of the time…
I woke up a couple of days ago, and noticed it was February. I have NO idea where the hell January went so quickly. It seems like just yesterday it was New Years. Work and weather combined to make this one helluva busy month, It was also very stingy on miles. I ended ups with only 235 for January. Over 100 less than the year before.
I can tell I am going to have a challenge this year: To not beat myself for not making the same miles from last year. Last year was a fluke and a record. I will get plenty of miles this year, but it doesn’t need to be as much as last year.
That being said, I wanted to kick off February well… Continue reading “A mid winter’s ride”
You know that old saying, especially when you were a kid. It’s a big meal, and you fill your plate with a little of everything cuz you are hungry. Then not even halfway through emptying your plate, you realized there is NO way I shoulda taken on so much….
My ride was like that today…. Continue reading “Eyes were bigger than my tummy today!”
So this morning, there I was, getting ready for the ride to work. I had the riding shorts on, and I debating which coat to wear. It had been raining over night, and the forecast had called for showers today.
Being lazy, I didn’t walk to the window to look outside, I simply said, “Computer, what’s the weather?” (Yes I admit it, I have an Alexa (OK it’s an Echo) , and being a Star Trek Geek, I changed it to respond to “Computer” instead of “Alexa” But it is totally cool to say “Computer, play Jimmy Buffett!” )
Alexa replied, “Currently, in Mountlake Terrace, it is 34 degrees with snow flurries!” WAIT WHAT??? Continue reading “Winter is coming, wait, Winter is here!!”
As much as we all love a good vacation, we look forward to it, plan it, and love when it happens, all too soon the day comes when you have to go home. You KNOW it’s a good vacation when you start thinking, I wonder if I could wrangle just one more day….
That was me this morning… Continue reading “Plan B comes to an end..”
Folks, I am sure everywhere someone lives has it own particular set of rules. In California, I think there is a requirement to be tan. Texas, somewhere is a bylaw that says you have to own boots and a hat. South of the Mason-Dixon line, Y’all are required to use the word Y’all!
On the Oregon Coast, somewhere in the closet you have a pair of these.
In Seattle, we have many. Some involve only drinking Good wine, good beer and good coffee. ( I am sipping Starbucks as I type this.) But others revolve around the sun coming out….
