Ladies and Gents, as much as this blog is about me most of the time, the best posts are when it’s about others. Especially when it’s about Michelle, who pushed me to start this thing. Today’s post is ALL about her, and her friend Kim, as yesterday was their second running of the Portland Halfmarathon. Continue reading “Its a win in my books!”
Last October, while Michelle and Kim we getting ready for the Portland Half Marathon, the Santa Rosa trip had its genesis. In the hotel where the packet pick up was occurring, other runs were lobbying for people to sign up,
This run had it dialed in. They gave them each a shirt, a jacket, AND a free bottle of wine! The ladies signed up and we started making plans for the trip! Yesterday morning was the big event, the day of the run! Continue reading “Santa Rosa Part II”
“So there I was, minding my own business…” was how I started my call home on Sunday at the turn around point of my bike ride. There are very few conversation starters that worry Michelle more than that one. There’s “Let me show you this trick I learned in Pullman!” Or, “Well we were drinking beer at WSU when…” Or possibly, “I have a swiss army knife and duct tape, stand aside little lady, I got this….”
No, after thinking a bit, it is the first one listed above the worries her the most. And, the reason for the call made me realize I have forgotten to discuss a key point of bike riding, or exercise in general. Continue reading “One thing I haven’t told you”
Wow, it really is 2015! I know its kind of a cliché, but damn, this was one helluva fast year. Between being very busy at work, and all the stuff we had going on around here, it just seemed to fly by.
Then with my travels to Spokane for training, it seems like I Thanksgiving was just last week. But here we are, New years day!
December was NOT a month to remember for cycling. I did have some bike commutes, and on shed ride. I was also able to get out for some rides early in the month. All that being said, there was only 142 miles for the month. January will be better! Continue reading “Racking Up the Miles: 2014 in review”
There was a time, way back in the way back days (ok maybe 10 years ago or so, I was a runner. I did 5, 10, and 12Ks on a regular basis, and once (ONLY once) I ran a half marathon (13.1 miles)
A week after this picture was taken I had a hernia operation and never got bad into running shape. Today proved that to me a bit! Continue reading “I had to give it all I had to keep up with her!”
Anyone who has been here from the beginning knows that I do big rides every year. These are always century rides or more and I end up training for them all year. Michelle is my support crew. She makes sure I have healthy snacks, helps make sure I train, travels with me to the far away rides and does the drop off and/or pick up at the beginning/end as needed.
My rides are MUCH easier and more successful with her help. Today, I got to return the favor for once (I still owe her lots!)… Continue reading “Today I was the support crew”
We love our Saturdays normally. Usually, we sleep in, then Michelle eventually turns on NPR, to which we doze in and out of consciousness to, and we finally get out of bed when one of us in hungry. Yep, normally Saturday morning is our lazy time.
