People find this hard to believe sometimes, but I really an introvert. Yes I know I can loud, and yes I was a corporate trainer for years, and yes my job now deals with easily 20 people or more a day on the phone, but I really am an introvert.
Given the choice I ride the bike alone, back in my mountain days I would hike alone,
And Michelle and I really like to just hang out in the quiet of our own home….
So this morning, there I was, getting ready for the ride to work. I had the riding shorts on, and I debating which coat to wear. It had been raining over night, and the forecast had called for showers today.
Being lazy, I didn’t walk to the window to look outside, I simply said, “Computer, what’s the weather?” (Yes I admit it, I have an Alexa (OK it’s an Echo) , and being a Star Trek Geek, I changed it to respond to “Computer” instead of “Alexa” But it is totally cool to say “Computer, play Jimmy Buffett!” )
Sometimes, ladies and gents, you have to make an executive decision. Work is important, as it pays the bills, let’s me eat regularly and allows Michelle and to go on vacations. However, for me, a summer that has already been wicked busy, is soon going to get worse!
Michelle and I have a couple of days off together coming up (at least one for sure will be blogworthy) but other than that it is straight on work till Labor Day weekend.
Last week I looked at the calendar and made an executive decision. Monday was honestly my only window, it was time to take a day off and ride! Continue reading “Playing Hookie”→
Well folks, we’ve all heard that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Given that, it truly was with the best of intentions that I planned the outing today for Michelle and I. She has told me for the last couple of years that she wanted to go hiking, So, with a 4 day weekend coming here (we took today off from work!) I picked a trail for us to go…. Once again I was called upon by the Mighty P to leave the land of year round (well for the most part) cycling and head east to the wilds of Eastern Washington. Yep, I had to make the run to Spokane again to train some new hires, molding them into my image.
Back in April 2013, I started back with the mighty P. Since that time, each and every month, I have cycle commuted. When I worked downtown, I threw the bike on back of the car so Michelle and I could commute in together, and I would cycle the 17 miles home. Since moving to the Lynnwood office, I bike the 5 mile one way trip 3 or 4 times a week.
In addition I do longer rides after work in the summer. In the fall and winter though, I have to wait until the weekends to do so. December 2016 has NOT been conducive to riding… Continue reading “Time to suck it up!”→
I have had many posts about the name Mountainstroh (as in my web page Mountainstroh.com) so I won’t get into detail here of its origin. Suffice it to say, the name was inspired by Mt. Rainier, a place I have gone to since I was in grade school
Thursday, I took the day off, threw the bike on the back of the car, and headed up there again. It was the perfect day.
