Autumn at the Oregon Coast

I first started to title this post “Fall at the Oregon Coast”. However, since I am a bike rider, where falls do occur, and my mom reads the blog (and worries) I decided to title it AUTUMN at the Oregon Coast.

OK, on to the post!

Most people visit here in the summer when the sun is warm, the water, although cold, is calm, and there is a good chance of no rain.

The roads around here start getting busy in May. Then from Memorial Day to Labor Day, the coast, especially on weekends, is hopping! We DO have traffic jams, and miles long back ups!

I can’t fault folks, it is VERY pretty down here during that time of year.  However, these last couple of weeks are reminding me why I am finding Fall I mean Autumn, to be my favorite time of year at the coast!

He’s our age???

This is something Michelle hears from me time and time again. We will be watching TV, or see someone when we are at dinner, or mention someone from work. And when I hear is is close to our age or younger, I do a double take… He’s our age???

Now for those who do not know, I hit the big double Nickel this year. Yep 55. I am a bit up there.

But, not to beep my own horn, the further I get, the more I am learning there is a HUGE difference between people the same age. Not all 55 year olds are build alike.  Continue reading “He’s our age???”

Spring is coming!

I know a lot of people who truly are NOT fans of winter! There is cold, there is snow and a whole lotta dark. Of the three, the only part I ever used to get tired of was the dark. In December and January, I would leave in the dark for work, and there were days I would leave work and it was dark again already.

Here at the coast, and working from home, this is NOT an issue. I always get home before dark. Plus, this winter has not been normal! Most of January looked like this

With lots of blue sky and sunshine, but it was still winter…. Continue reading “Spring is coming!”

A great beach weekend

With the new year, like many people, I have been trying, with a lot of help from Michelle, to get the body back in shape after too much good food, too much wine and not near enough miles on the bike in November and December. I am doing both rides on the trainer in the garage, as well was using the treadmill. I am also doing my best to get out each weekend for at least one outside ride.

I have to time it right with the weather, but so far I have been 3 for 3. I wasn’t sure if this weekend was going to happen though.  Continue reading “A great beach weekend”

Never know what you will see!

Remember when this blog was mostly about cycling? When post after post would be about the miles traveled and the things I had seen. Well spring and summer are a coming, and those posts will be coming back. But I gotta tell ya, winter at the coast has been amazing! Even without the bike… Continue reading “Never know what you will see!”

A look at 2018

Yeah yeah yeah, I know. Every stinking TV show, radio program, podcast and blogger does a “looking back post.” So here I am doing the same. But ya know, honestly 2018 has been a year of change, AND the blogger mafia threatened to take away my website if I didn’t do it, so, here we go, 2018…

Dawn to dusk

So, in a week or so, Michelle and I will hit the 9 month mark of the day we moved to the coast. There were those who believed, and hell maybe still believe, that we’d get tired of living here.

In all honestly, just like anywhere, there are work days that suck ass, and days where nothing all that memorable happens. There is magic at the coast, but that magic does not happen every day.

But then there are days like today. Where from before sun up, to after sun down, the coast puts on a show! When that happens we love it! And since it happened today, I wanted to share with you… Continue reading “Dawn to dusk”
