But for those of you who don’t know where WSU is, its in a tiny town in eastern Washington called Pullman, 8 miles from the Idaho border. This means, from the west side of the state where we live, it is a 5 hour (at least) one way drive with half of it being on a 2 lane highway. As much as I love visiting the town, it is a 2 day event to get there and enjoy it.
Well the day has come, I am sitting at home, waiting for the tow truck to come and haul away the green station wagon. As I sit, looking outside on frosty world, sipping some hot tea, random thoughts are flowing through my head. So what better way to capture them than on here…. Continue reading “Randomness”→
Tonight was dinner with the Manchild, as are most Tuesdays. I had a hankering for some pancakes, so it was off to IHOP for a quick dinner and then on to play some billiards. All in all a typical Tuesday night.
As we left the restaurant, though, a commercial came on advertising Huey Lewis and News playing at a local casino. Without thinking, I heard a window shaking “HUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYY!” come out of my mouth. As is the norm when I do something strange, the Manchild gives a little sigh, and just looks at me. He knows there is going to be a story.
“Dude!” says I, “have I ever told you how I met Dave and Jim?”
If anyone would’ve asked me prior to today, I would have answered without a doubt that I had done a post about this story. However, two things this week made me check. The first was one of my students asking why teenage and twenty-something males seem to lack common sense, and the second was one of my old friends mentioned shoe polish in a Facebook comment.
Wow! One of the reasons I blog almost every day is to make sure I don’t forget anything. Well that, and I enjoy it a lot. Truth be told though, most of the time, skipping 3 days wouldn’t be a big deal. However, this was a busy Labor Day weekend for us! There has been a lot going on from Thursday night up to and until me sitting in my chair, sipping wine on Sunday. It’s a good thing tomorrow is a holiday, I need a rest.
Folks, I do my best to give my wife credit for everything she does, Michelle is amazing. She knows I have been down on myself for not riding much, and not going on rides on the weekends. So when I mentioned I was kinda thinking of taking the scenic route home from work, she said “GO! Have fun!”
OK, I am going to sound like an old curmudgeon here. Something that will sound like “Back in my day…” But that is exactly what I am going to do here. I will also be stepping away from anything to do with cycling or working out, and concentrating on the main focus of the week, the 2014 season opener for Washington State Cougar football!
Seems like every day I look Facebook, parents or kids are getting ready for, packing or even moving in for the first time in College. Each parent is different when this happens. You’ve got some that hover over every decision, some that take it upon themselves to do the shopping and packing for taking them the first day, hanging out, making sure they are all moved in. Then you have my Dad’s way… Continue reading “First floor or sixth?”→
I know this may be shocking to y’all, but sometimes, and I know it is probably rare, a Facebook post gets misinterpreted by some. I know, I can hear the collective “GASP” and a loud “Ta HELL you say!!” but yes it is true. It happened to me yesterday when I posted.
Ok y’all. Know that feeling you had today, watching the match, USA team dodging bullet after bullet, all along thinking they could pull it off, knowing it was possible until the very end? That is almost as magical as the feeling you get as a COUG!
Funny how stories will just pop into your head. I was sitting here, watching a show on Netflix. Michelle is asleep, Manchild is back at home with his mom, and after one helluva busy Sunday (yeah “day of rest” my ass!) this was my first time to sit.
I was watching a western when the voice of The Mudsucker (my buddy Scott) saying “LET’S GO!!” Popped into my head. I will tell you, I almost stood up and headed for the door! Continue reading “LET’S GO!!!”→
